APRIL WILL BE THE BIG

DESERT SWEEP
!!!!!!!!!!

Watch out for updates here!

CLEAN SHARM started its actions with regular Clean Up days; 13 took place so far:
in Rowesaat (3x), Hadaba (3x), Hay el Nour (2x), Nabq, the Souq in Downtown, AIDA cliff, Kennedy Mall and one Under Water Reef Clean Up in Ras Mohamed.

Our March Clean Up around Kennedy Mall had been a special one, with a great result thanks to united efforts:
While the raising of awareness to ensure long-lasting changes is CLEAN SHARM’s main reason for the monthly Clean Ups
, Ana’s concern (the founder of the Facebook group ‘South Sinai – Sharm’s deserts”) is simply to remove garbage NOW. On March 6 these two came together: concerned residents, helped by SES met for the 13th time to clean up a neighborhood, and Ana, who had recently convinced Sharm’s mayor to send heavy machinery for regular cleanings, had organized a loader and workers from the City Council to tackle the big stuff. And so, between 9 and 12, a lot changed around Kennedy Mall!
One might think that this is still not the enviroment one wishes to have around supermarkets, clinics and a hospital, but it is most defenitely a much better and cleaner place than before!

Men at Work

Once somebody asked on this pages: WHERE ARE SHARM'S MEN? Now we can proudly report: They ARE on the streets and DO clean up!

The 13th Clean Up was sponsored by SCUBATAC, thank you very much! We also received free mineral water from METRO, plastic bags from Sprankelen and we had, as always, the most valuable help from SES, lead by Essam. (Plus we got a most generous donation by somebody who want to stay anonymous....)
We also want to say THANK YOU to Sharm's mayor, General Ahmed Salah and everybody from the City Council, who came and helped making this area cleaner!
